Term Dates

The academic year officially begins on October 1 and is divided into a winter and a summer semester. Each semester consists of a lecture period and a semester break. The lecture period for the winter term is mid-October to mid-February. The summer term begins on April 1 and the lecture period is mid-April to mid-July.

Summer Semester 2024

Lecture period: Tuesday, 2 April 2024, to Saturday, 13 July 2024

Exkursion week: Sunday, 19 May 2024, to Sunday, 26 May 2024

Public holiday in Niedersachsen (Lower Saxony):

• 01 May 2024: Labour Day
• 9 May 2024: Ascension Day
• 20 May 2024: Whit Monday

Exception: In the Faculty of Humanities and Educational Sciences, there are block courses from Monday, 11 March 2024 to Saturday, 23 March 2024 for second term students and higher.
